Fall is hands down my favorite season, but it’s also my favorite season to decorate for and to celebrate the entire time it’s here. I love decorating and making a space standout. My husband and I live in a small, two-bedroom apartment, which makes it really difficult to decorate the way I’d love to, even though my decorating style is simplistic. Needless to say, I can’t wait until the day we have our first home or even simply a larger space to make our own every season.
I have come up with some surefire tips for when it comes to decorating a small space, as well as some great items to consider when decorating for fall in any home.
TIPS FOR DECORATING A SMALL LIVING SPACE:
Use Items With Multiple Purposes // In a small living space, it’s important to be able to get the most use you can out of anything you choose to decorate with. For example, choosing a coffee table or side tables that have drawers and shelving space is huge for not only a decorating aspect, but also a practical and storage aspect, as well.
Make Use Of Your Corners // Corners can sometimes be overlooked in small spaces, but they are so important to consider when decorating. Corners can be used to add a bookshelf, chic chair or bean bag seating. Never underestimate with what you can do in the corners of your living space!
Pick A Color Scheme // Choosing a consistent color scheme will help you to be able to pick out decor pieces that automatically compliment each other. Try to stick to about 3 colors that compliment each other for when you’re decorating your small space. This will help the room to seem more put together and sometimes, even spacier.
SIMPLE FALL DECOR ITEMS FOR ANY HOME:
Fresh Blooms Or Greenery // One of my classic ways to decorate any space is to add fresh flowers or plants to the room. Adding flowers or plants will always help to bring every room to life. While I love a beautiful fall bouquet, you can never go wrong with some classic white blooms.
Inspiring Books Or Magazines // Having books or magazines on your coffee table is a great way to create a cozy mood. Fall is the time of year when everyone starts to cozy up inside before the wintertime. Setting out certain scenery books or aesthetically fitting magazines can help keep the spark of inspiration alive all season long.
Seasonal Mugs // Mugs are always a fun, little way to spruce up a space, whether there’s coffee (or any beverage) in them or they’re used for storage. This flannel mug is one of the go-to mugs for the cooler fall weather.
Pumpkins // This should be a given, right? Pumpkins are essential to making your space feel like fall! They come in every size, so you can choose which will compliment your space the best. They also come in different colors, which is a plus.
Northern Lights Candles // I am a huge candle fanatic – I get my love for them from my mother. Growing up, she would always have candles burning. It’s nostalgic for me! Today, I am so glad to be partnering with Northern Lights Candles to share about how candles are the perfect addition to any space. Northern Lights Candles has some of the most beautiful candle containers I have ever seen, never mind the amazing scents that they’ve created. Northern Lights has a huge variety of fragranced candles and non-fragrant candles to choose from, as well as accessories.
The Cedar & Spice Pinecone Candle pictured at the beginning of the post is by far one of the best candles I have ever had. The scent is capturing and refreshing, as it’s of pepper & spearmint with citrus, myrrh & patchouli. It’s such a stunning and unique scent that completely captures the season of fall perfectly. Can we also talk about how adorable the mercury glass pinecone jar is? It’s beautifully crafted with the proper textures that embody a pinecone, making it the best jar for this long-lasting candle. This harvest pinecone collection also features two other scents: Heirloom Pumpkin and Anjou Pear.
The other two candles I got from Northern Lights are part of their Spirit Jars collection, which is a homage to craft cocktails. Combine fragrances with the wit of your favorite bartender with their “Snappy Snippets” on the back of each candle! I have the scents of Absinthe & Black Fig and Apple Pie Moonshine, and both are to die for. First off, I have to immediately acknowledge the smartly crafted jars and lids of these candles. They exemplify fall and all of its warmth and coziness so well. They pair perfectly with any kind of fall decor in any spot of the home. Both scents are rich and complimentary, as they truly carry the savory aroma of the most crisp craft cocktails. They also have the scents of Blackberry Brandy and Whiskey & Tobacco.
Those are my little tips and item suggestions for decorating a small space for fall! What are some of your best decor items for fall? If they include a candle, then you just have to check out Northern Lights! Let’s chat, friends!
