If you follow me on Snapchat, you probably see all of my snaps from when I’m at the barn with the girl that I nanny. Since she owns her own pony, we’re at the barn at least 4-5 days a week for lessons, exercising the pony, grooming and getting ready for shows. We can be at the barn anywhere from 2-4 hours each day, and if she has some friends at the barn with her, it can sometimes go longer! I have adapted quite well over the past few years since having to be at the barn on a regular basis. In the wintertime, I’ve learned what it’s really like to be cold and in the summertime, I’ve learned the importance of hydration. It’s amazing how much I have learned just from spending time at the barn on a regular basis.
Hydration is always going to be an important thing that we should all be educated on properly, but importantly, be acting on daily. If I were to go to the barn without my favorite hydration products, I’d easily get a headache and grow faint really fast. It’s crazy to think that most Americans are chronically dehydrated and they don’t even know it!
Today, I want to share with you everything that I keep inside my barn day cooler, as well as how I pack it to be most useful for me. From my favorite hydration products to other summertime essentials, they all can be kept in my barn day cooler, making it super convenient for me to have everything on hand at all times.
BARN DAY COOLER ESSENTIALS:
- Honest Tea & vitaminwater
- Heathly snacks – mixed nuts, fruits, etc.
- Napkins
- Hand sanitizer
- Lip balm
- Mobile phone charger
- Extra hair ties
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Sunglasses
HOW I PACK MY COOLER:
To start packing my cooler, I first need a nice, clean cooler that’s in great condition and will weather the barn. Then I start by placing a few ice packs inside to help keep everything even cooler. There’s seriously nothing as refreshing as a nice cool drink to keep me hydrated! My go-to hydration products are Coca-Cola’s Honest Tea & vitaminwater. Every flavor is delicious, but more importantly, they never fail to keep me and my nanny kids properly hydrated.
I have been drinking vitaminwater for years and years, as it was always my go-to for when I was dancing. As I grew older, I developed a love for Honest Tea, which is simply natural and satisfying. Both will always be on hand for me, especially for barn days in the summer.
The next few things to go into my cooler are my healthy snacks, napkins, hand sanitizer, and wet wipes. You never know what you could touch at the barn, so it is an absolutely must to have wet wipes and hand sanitizer with you at all times, especially if you can’t get to a sink as soon as you’d like. I love that my cooler has this little net pouch inside the cooler, which makes it the perfect spot to keep my napkins, wet wipes, and hand sanitizer.
After I have zipped up the inside of the cooler, it’s time to put all of my other summertime essentials in the pouch on the outside of the cooler. This is where my sunscreen, bug spray, extra hair ties, mobile phone charger, lip balm, and sunglasses go. After my cooler is all packed up, it’s good to go for a day at the barn!
I can’t tell you enough how happy I am that CVS is right down the road from me, making it more than convenient to grab all of my hydration essentials when I’m on the go. I just love that CVS Health and The Coca-Cola Company have teamed up to help customers satisfy their body’s thirst for wellness with “Life Quenching”. I also love that I’m able to educate my nanny kids and their friends on why it’s important to stay hydrated at all times, especially when they’re horseback riding or doing other physical activity.
