Small victories always count and don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.
I think sometimes we forget that overcoming is a process. A process that is jam packed with the highs and the lows of it all. One day you’re pushing ahead and then the next, you’re falling behind…
But remember, that is normal. That is normal in the progression of conquering that struggle or fear you’ve been troubling through.
When you’ve fallen down, do not accept the feelings of defeat that will try to enter your mind. You must choose to battle those discouraging thoughts with finding real reasons to pick yourself back up, to let go of that fall and to carry on down the road of restoration. Remember to speak life over yourself and to hold on to the hope you know is sure. Remind yourself that the lows are okay – they are a part of the process.
When you’ve achieved a goal that you’ve been reaching for – celebrate it! It doesn’t matter how big or small the achievement is – all that matters is that you persevered through and you made it. You have the right to celebrate yourself and every victory you grab hold of. Look back on where you were and see how far you really have come. I am in awe when I take a moment to pause and reflect on how far I’ve come. I think that too often we get caught up in thinking “we still haven’t made it yet,” so much so that it blocks the view of the truth of how far we’ve really come.
Remind yourself that the victories are a part of the process, just as much as the failures are. And just like the failures receive attention and mending, so do our victories need celebrating. We forget that.
Be proud of yourself. Be proud of yourself for persevering through times of failure and for the times of pressing on to receive the victory! You are making tremendous growth. Please, do not neglect to see that. Celebrate yourself and all that you have overcome.
