It’s Monday, it’s Monday! That means it’s time for more wedding photos to be share with you all. Today, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite photos of the decorations and other pieces that brought the essence of our day to life. If you’re just joining in on my wedding series today, you can see all other wedding-related posts HERE.
Before Michael and I were even engaged, I knew I wanted a simple and elegant wedding. I didn’t want there to be an overflowing amount of decorations or anything too over-the-top. I wanted the decorations to be simple because I felt like it reflected who both Michael and I are. We wanted our guests to feel comfortable at our wedding, and the decorations really do have a lot to do with that.
We got married at The Plantation Party House in Spencerport, New York. We had our eyes set on this venue since the summer before we got engaged! It was really ideal for us to have a venue that only allowed for one event to go on at a time, so this was the venue for us. A huge perk to this venue was that we could have both the ceremony and reception at it, which allowed for our guests to not have to travel too much and for everything to not feel rushed. We were so glad we went with The Plantation Party House, because not only was the venue everything we were looking for, but the people we worked with were incredible.
With wanting to keep things simple, many of the decorations are just easy DIYs. I had put much thought into what I wanted the canvases and signs to say, and all of my bridesmaids had helped me bring them to life. Many of the canvases had scripture verses on love painted on them. I think my favorite canvases were the seven that had 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 painted on them – they lead our guests to the area where our ceremony was.
My sweet mother-in-law also got in on the DIY action. When we found out the kind of chairs we had for the ceremony, it posed an issue with how we would get the flowers to stay on the chairs. Without thinking too much about it, she automatically thought “hair clips!” and she was so right! She made all of the chair pieces herself and they came out absolutely perfect.
Simple for me also means classic and timeless. I was at Michael’s almost every day the weeks leading up to the wedding and I spotted these adorable antique-like keys. I decided to do the cute saying, “find the key to your seat” for when our guests came into the party house, instead of having the place cards at their tables. We had a little over 150 guests so it made it easier for everyone to find their tables this way.
I’m sure it’s pretty clear that I’m a huge coffee lover, right? Michael is too! So, of course, it was fitting for us to have our wedding favors be coffee favors. They were a hit!
I knew that I wanted small centerpieces so that the guests would be able to all talk to each other, instead of having to peak around a huge piece. I kept it simple with small glass vases, babies breath and rose petals, and silver votives with candles in them. You don’t need much to create a magical experience if you use your decorations wisely. And if you’re planning a theme wedding, it may be worth hiring a theme wedding officiant to help you achieve your dream wedding.
One of the huge perks to having a Friday wedding was that I got to decorate some on Thursday. For the decorations I wasn’t able to set up, I gave my maitre d’ full reign and he did a phenomenal job!
When I was searching on Etsy for a cake topper, I knew exactly the phrase I wanted. This exact topper isn’t available anymore but here is a similar one.
One of my favorite things about the party house was the chandelier over the dance floor. It was perfection! I also loved that our venue decorated with their own flowers and accents, that included colors from all of the weddings that’d happen over the weekend.
We are still receiving compliments about our wedding today. Everyone loved how we decorated and kept everything simplistic, yet elegant. This makes me beyond happy because that’s what I was going for!
I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into the decoration details of my big day! By keeping things simple and classy, you can never go wrong. Stay tuned, because next week I’m sharing about our ceremony!
