Here we are… the final countdown! 30 weeks pregnant. It boggles my mind that this pregnancy is flying by so fast. Here on the blog, I haven’t documented this pregnancy as much as I did my first. This is mostly because everything has been pretty smooth so far and I’m also lacking time these days, haha. If you follow me on Instagram and TikTok, you’ll have noticed that I kept most pregnancy updates there. Today you’re getting my 30-week bumpdate!
30 weeks pregnant bumpdate
I am still feeling great for the most part and I’m so thankful for that. I have been having some weird tailbone/pelvic pain this pregnancy that seems to get worse over time. It strikes at the oddest times and definitely is sorer at night. My heating pad and KT tape have been my two BFFs. I recently learned about SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) and I thought it sounded very similar to what I’m experiencing. I mentioned it to one of my midwives but she didn’t seem to think it was that. Baby boy is a little bigger than Taya was and sits low, so I’m expecting the aches to get achier these last weeks.
I had my 1-hour glucose test at 28 weeks and unfortunately, I failed it by a few points. Such a pain! I went for my 3-hour glucose test last week (29 weeks) and I PASSED. The 3-hour is more of an inconvenient time-sucker for me rather than dreading the glucola drink and the blood draws. Beyond thankful that I passed!
From my labs, I also found out that I’m anemic so now I have to take an iron supplement and possibly go for IV iron infusions. I’m really hoping the supplements will be enough, though.
30-WEEK ULTRASOUND: I had a growth scan to check on baby boy and all went well. He is already head down and “really low”… totally makes sense with the pelvic pressure I’ve been having. He’s a mover! The tech tried to get a good photo for me and even attempted a 3D scan, but baby boy was being shy and didn’t want to move his hand out of his face. He’s measuring in the 12th percentile (a little over 3lbs). They want to do another growth scan in a month just to make sure all is well. Taya was only 5lbs 15oz when she was born (39+5), so I’m not too worried. I’m petite so it only makes sense that my babies are, too.
30-WEEK APPOINTMENT: I was in and out – all is well. My blood pressure is normal.
CRAVINGS AS OF LATELY: Cereal! I have been such a cereal junkie this pregnancy but especially since hitting the third trimester. 😂
WEIGHT GAIN: Ugh, I don’t even want to talk about it. It’s been one of my biggest mental hurdles this pregnancy. I didn’t start gaining until probably 14-15 weeks but after that, I gained way faster than I did with Taya. I have gained about 25lbs so far… giving me not much more to gain to stay in a healthy range (and a range that’s comfortable to me). And I have 10 more weeks? I’m trying to not let it get to me.
*fingers crossed that breastfeeding will actually help me drop the baby weight this time around*
MOVEMENT: I have a posterior placenta this time which means that baby boy is in front of the placenta. He moves around all day long and late evenings are his favorite times. Baby kicks and movements are definitely my favorite thing about being pregnant.
NURSERY PROGRESS: We have started on the nursery but we’re not in the decorating stages yet. We’ll be painting the nursery this weekend and then we’ll be able to start getting everything in place. I’m not doing any major theme at all but it’ll be a neutral boho feel.
HOSPITAL BAG: I haven’t started packing my hospital bag yet but I have started collecting items I’ll need for it and postpartum. Actually, I had all our hospital bag checklists (mine, Mike’s, and baby boy’s) organized by the time I was like 24 weeks pregnant, haha. Once I get the nursery in place, I’ll start packing my hospital bag then.
Keep your eyes peeled… I’ll be sharing what I’m packing in my hospital bag and baby’s hospital bag within the next month!
XO,
