I was provided complimentary services from Shakti Salon in exchange for a beautiful post all about my experience.
I hope you’re having a lovely Friday so far, my friends! Last Friday, I got to have a pampering day complimentary of Shakti Salon & Spa in Kingston, Pennsylvania. Today, I am so excited to be sharing all about my experience with you. Shakti Salon & Spa is an Aveda Salon. Aveda products are made with organic and natural pure flower and plant ingredients – they’re products are proven to have powerful results, all while protecting and preserving our environment.
I am always in need of some pampering especially when it comes to the beauty sides of things. Before going to Shakti Salon, my hair was in major need of some loving! My roots were growing out and my color had grown slightly dull over the summer months, so I was looking forward to getting freshened up.
When I first arrived I checked in at the front desk and was shortly after greeted by the first beauty expert I’d be with that day, Nina. Nina was the sweetest thing! First up were my manicure and pedicure. I ended up choosing the same color for both – a gorgeous, off-white neutral. You all know how much I love neutral nail colors!
After my manicure and pedicure, it was time to do a refresh on my hair. Where I live we have well water and with all of the rain we’ve been getting, it’s been causing the well to stir up. There are tons of minerals in the water and they break down the quality of my hair over time, in addition to fading my color.
Above are photos of my hair before the refresh. You can’t really tell how warm-toned my hair was due to the lighting but it was definitely in need of a touch-up!
I was with Amy for my color and she was a blast! She listened to my entire hair history and knew exactly what my hair needed to achieve the refresh that I needed. I asked to have the all over color (which matches my roots) to be refreshed and to leave some of that color showing from my roots. I love this look because it’s super practical since I can’t get my hair colored all of the time – it helps to let my roots grow out naturally without it looking obvious that it’s my roots. Amy also brought my balayage back to life! I am in love with the results.
After my color, I was brought back to Nina for my cut. I have been trying to grow out my hair for a long time now. My goal? Long, pretty mermaid hair, haha! Since I’m wanting to grow it out way longer than it is right now, I had Nina do a very slight trim. She took off exactly the amount I was looking for – not too much, just enough to get rid of any split ends that I had. Keeping up with regular trims helps your hair grow faster because it won’t keep splitting at the ends. So, get trims regularly if you’re wanting to grow your hair out (or to just have generally happy and healthy hair).

This white top is from Chicwish (c/o) and I think it’s absolutely darling for transitioning from summer to fall. I love peplum tops and actually really adore how this peplum has a bit of a drop-waist look to it. It’s under $30! Pair it with distressed skinnies and heeled booties and it’s super fun!
Honestly, these photos do not do the results justice!! I am so, so happy with my hair and Shakti Salon. I’ll also add in that it’s been years since I’ve been to a salon so I was a bit nervous, but you bet I’ll be going back here when I am need of some hair love!
