When you’re a first-time parent-to-be, it can be quite an overwhelming time, especially when you’re trying to really figure out what you need for your new baby. There is so much information out there that it can sometimes make decisions more confusing than they have to be. I have been there! I totally get it. When I first got pregnant, I thought I had a good idea of everything we’d need for our daughter but I learned a lot more of what we actually needed along the way. To help you out a bit, I figured I’d share what in my experience are the top 5 nursery essentials for first-time parents!
Over the past 8 months of Taya’s life, these nursery must-haves have all been life-changing for us. Let’s break it down! Are you ready?
5 NURSERY ESSENTIALS FOR THE FIRST-TIME PARENT:
1. Swaddle Blankets // When you hear about swaddle blankets, I’m sure you just think of one purpose for them: swaddling your baby! But friends, swaddle blankets are made for more than just swaddling your little one. Fun fact: Taya didn’t like being swaddled at all but swaddle blankets have been and still are something I reach for all of the time. Other uses for swaddle blankets: car seat cover in the car, stroller cover, on-the-go changing pad, or blanket. Some swaddles even make great backdrops for photos, which is a plus!
2. Wipeable Changing Pad // I’m telling you right now, you’re going to want to skip the foam changing pads with multiple cloth covers and just go with a wipeable changing pad. It is one of the best things and I recommend it to every new parent! Babies make messes. A LOT of messes. It’s so much easier to break out a disinfectant cleaner to wipe down the cushioned foam in just a few seconds, rather than having to change the changing pad cover all of the time. It’s going to save you so much time, I promise.

That’s when Mike and I decided we needed to get a video monitor that was much more reliable and that brought us peace of mind.
