Friends, the 90’s are making their way back with style and I couldn’t be happier. From necklace chokers to flannels, I simply love it all. I am a true 90’s kid and loved every moment of it, from the hairstyles to the best cartoons and shows to ever exist. But, there is a part of me that wishes I was a teen in the 90’s. There’s nothing I love to channel more than teenage angst. I’m just keeping it real, friends!
Today, I’m collaborating with some amazing bloggers to showcase different ways to style 90’s fashion. Be sure to head over to A Blissful Haven and A Classy Fashionista to see more awesome 90’s fashion posts!
I’m sharing one of my favorite kinds of 90’s style outfits – grunge rock. I love Rock-‘n’-roll music, as it’s mostly what I grew up listening to. There’s just something about the guitars, the bass, and the drums rocking out all together.
My 90’s grunge rock look is totally something I’d wear everyday if I was a teen back in the 90’s. Nothing beats a great rock tee and converse. Who agrees?
Nirvana is by far one of my favorite rock bands that was huge in the 90’s, so naturally I have to rock a tee of theirs. I love the grittiness of their music. It’s raw and real. It’s even uncomfortable at times, which is strangely inviting to me.
To make my overall outfit look more grunge, I decided to grab a red and navy flannel. Flannels are all the rave right now and I totally get why. They’re not only stylish, but they’re comfortable and warm. You can throw a flannel overtop of any kind of tee or casual top. It’s the perfect addition to any 90’s look.
While boyfriend jeans and “mom” jeans were all the rave in the 90’s, there were those youngsters that worn skinny jeans. If I was a teen in the 90’s, I’d live in skinny jeans…just like I do now. I decided to wear these skinny jeans for this look, as they’re blue and bring out the navy in my flannel.
Converse were HUGE in the 90’s, but they’re still just as cool now. It’s so awesome that Converse are still in high demand and are expanding into many different styles, too. I love these classic black low tops. You can wear these babies with almost anything!
Seriously, the 90’s were all about the moody and grungy. To be honest, in an unashamed way, I’m all about that. Aside from 90’s style, another things of the 90’s has made a comeback…the dark lip! I love playing around with makeup and I typically do so according to my mood. If I’m feeling moody and sassy, I love to go dark with my eyeshadow, heavy with my eyeliner, and vampy with my lipstick. The lipstick I’m wearing here is Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick in Hex. It’s to die for! I am in love with it.
