I don’t know about you, but I am in complete denial that yesterday started the first day of November. This year has just been one of the fastest I have yet to experience so far, and yes, I know the years will only get faster and faster as I get older.
November is the official time to breakout every sweater I own. While October gently greets us with a chilly breeze, it still has days where it’s too warm to be decked out in a cozy sweater. Needless to say, I’m very glad that it’s officially sweater weather season!
At the start of fall, I picked up this super cozy open-knit sweater from Old Navy. The olive green color was originally what drew my eye to the sweater rack. I fell in love with it immediately! Open-knit sweaters are some of my most favorite to wear. I have never been much of a fan of chunky sweaters, as I can’t stand being too warm and most take over my body since I’m petite. This leaves me with beautiful open-knits and light sweaters being my go-to sweaters for the cold months, and I am perfectly fine with that!
I love this sweater because it has dropped-shoulders sleeves that are three-quarter long. It’s a bit of a classic look outside of the typical full-length sleeves. It has a relaxed fit to it, making it the perfect sweater for any occasion. I have said it before and I’ll say it again – I love versatile pieces that you can dress up or down, and this is one of them!
I decided to throw on my favorite pair of distressed skinnies from American Eagle. American Eagle is the only place I buy jeans and bottoms, as they’re the only ones that fit me right. The fact that AE even has “short” as an option in some of their styles is huge for me as a short lady (4’11”), even if I still have to roll them up once at the ankle.
I’ll let you in on a tiny secret…I almost never ever wear flats. I used to be all about flats when I first got to college, because they were kind of an in thing to wear. But gosh! Are some simply uncomfortable. I have shared before how hard it is to find shoes in my size (2 youth/4-5 women’s), so most times if I would want to buy flats, they’re decked out in pink sequins and sparkles. No thanks! I only own two pairs of flats; these babies and then a classic black pair. Believe it or not, but I found these darling cognac flats at Walmart a few years back! Yes, Walmart! The funny thing is they’re a size 6 in women’s, which just goes to show how off some of the ladies sizing can be, clothes or shoes. These flats are so comfortable and they’re the perfect color to match with olive green.
Whenever I wear olive green, I feel the need to complement the ensemble with gold accessories. I decided to break out my adorable gold arrow earrings that I got from Forever 21 a couple years back. For the past year or so, I have kept my jewelry wearing minimal, but I have been wanting to start wearing more statement earrings and bangles again. These are the perfect earrings for a fall outfit. Arrows are just lovely.
One of my favorite simplistic accessories that I have been wearing all season is this gorgeous gold ring from Go Rings. It has a bit of a coil look to it, keeping it the perfect minimalistic ring. It’s 30K gold and it has complemented almost every outfit that I have worn this fall; dressy or casual. I am a huge supporter of small businesses with a mission, so Go Rings is near and dear to my heart. Wearing my ring helps me to remember to always live with purpose and to go out and do good in the world.
If you’re looking for the perfect casual outfit for a day out downtown or out apple picking, this is it! It’s super simple to put together, even if you don’t have all of the exact items. Grab your favorite distressed skinnies and favorite open-knit sweater, and embellish whichever way fits your style. You can’t go wrong with a casual look like this.
