Friends, you’re not going to believe it. Today, I am bringing you my first style blog post in over 3 and a half years! I can’t believe it’s been THAT long. While I’m not a “fashion blogger” by any means, I do enjoy sharing my personal style journey over on Instagram regularly. What I’m sharing today is just too good to not write a blog about it, so here we are! 😊
Last month, I was on the hunt to find the perfect wedding guest dress to wear to a good friend from college’s wedding. There are so many beautiful wedding guest dress options out there but if you’re short and petite (like me), finding a dress that fits perfectly can be near impossible sometimes.
To make matters more difficult, I’m very particular when it comes to dresses in general. I typically opt for short dresses because midi dresses are maxi dresses for me, and well, maxi dresses can be as tall as me. 😂 This is life when you’re 4’11”! I am a bit insecure about my shoulders, so I usually look for short sleeves of some kind. Strapless, spaghetti straps, etc. are not my go-to at all. I’m not really gifted in my chest area (especially after breastfeeding 2 babies) so that limits my options even more. The struggle can be so real!
I spent hours and hours scouring every popular site for dresses… Lulus, VICI, Petal & Pup, ASOS, and so on with absolutely no luck. I even struck out with Amazon which is where I’ve found dresses I’ve loved in the past.
I did circle back to Lulus and tried this blue floral print wrap dress. This dress had great reviews from other short and petite women so it gave me hope! It was out of my dress comfort zone and since I’m on a journey to rediscover my personal style, I figured I’d give it a go. Sadly, it was way too long and I couldn’t adjust the straps enough for it to fit my chest right, so I returned it.
I gave up my online search for a bit and searched in stores but still had no luck. My sister recommended checking out Windsor and I immediately saw a few styles I loved. I found this Golden Hour Floral Ruffled Skater Dress and added it to my cart that second! Even though I didn’t want off-the-shoulder, I just fell in love with how beautiful it was… and it was even better in person!
This was the first dress I ever fell in love with upon trying it on. Well, aside from my wedding dress, of course. 😉 The cutout waist, smocked bodice, and ruffle trim details are simply stunning. The watercolor floral print is made up of the prettiest colors and totally embodies a romantic vibe. It is so dreamy!
I felt like this dress was made for me and gosh, that’s a really awesome feeling! This exact style dress is available in solid colors (blue, ivory, and pink) and when my size comes back in stock, I will be buying them. That’s how much I ADORE this dress!
I wore an adhesive bra with it and it was so comfortable. I have it linked below along with my dress, similar accessories, as well as Michael’s sage green shirt. I loved how everything came together!
