I absolutely love rompers, as they’re definitely one of my favorite springtime and summertime wardrobe staples. Today I am collaborating with Amanda from Blissful Gal, who happens to be one of my closest blogging friends, to chat all about rompers with you all! Rompers can be pieces that require you to step out of your comfort zone, but they’re totally worth it, as you can grow to find a new sense of self confidence from them.
When rompers first started to come into style a couple years ago, I never thought I could wear one. I never thought I could wear one, because I’m short…like super short! I’m only 4’11”, so you can imagine how difficult shopping for certain styles can be sometimes. In fact, the first time I wandered into a store and tried on a few rompers I absolutely hated how they looked on me. They were either too baggy around my torso area or they were riding up my butt to where my cheeks were hanging out; both very unflattering and uncomfortable scenes. I’m just being honest!
Naturally, it took me awhile to decide to try on rompers again, but when I did, I fell in love! The reason why I had such positive results when I gave rompers another try was because I researched the styles that would be best for my body shape. Some people same rompers aren’t for everyone, but I am not one of those people. I think that it’s possible for any lady to rock a romper, but in order to, you must first know what style romper would be best for your body shape.
Now, I am not going to sit here and say what I think everyone should wear by any means! But I am going to share some tips for my shorter, petite ladies for when it comes to finding the perfect romper to rock all season long!
6 TIPS FOR FINDING THE PERFECT ROMPER – FOR THE SHORT, PETITE LADY:
1. Always Have A Cinched Waist //
This has got to be one of the most important tips I have for petite girls when they’re looking for rompers – always look for a romper with a cinched waist. Stray far away from boxy rompers that have no shape to them, as they will only make you look shorter. If you do wear a boxy romper, try to add a belt to it to give you more shape, which essentially helps to elongate your body.
2. Stick To Solid Colors Or Simple Patterns //
Solid colors will never fail you when it comes to rompers. My most favorite rompers that I get the most wear out of are solid colors. As for patterns, vertical stripes are great for making you look taller. When you’re petite, it’s ideal to stay away from super busy patterns and colors, as certain patterns can end up making you look juvenile. We don’t want to make ourselves look any younger than people probably already think we are, so we have to try our best to play to what will help us look our actual ages. Anyone feel this struggle?
3. Stick To Short Rompers & Stay Away From Jumpsuits //
When you’re short like I am, it’s best to stay away from jumpsuits, as they will only end up making you look shorter than you are. The short length will show off more of your legs, which will always help to make you look taller.
4. Look For Sophisticated Details //
As I mentioned before, rompers can sometimes make us short ladies look younger than we are, which is never really good for us. In addition to sticking to more solid and straight forward patterns, if you look for more sophisticated details in rompers, they will only help you to look more classy and put together. For example, I chose this black romper because it has lace-like detailing and the cold shoulder cut-out for sleeves. These simple details make a romper look completely classic and lovely.
5. Wear Simple Fabric – Nothing Excess //
While taller ladies can wear rompers with fringe, ruffles, and extra layers, it’s best for us shorties to stick to simple fabrics without much excess materials. Rompers with too much fabric will only make us look like we’re being weighed down, instead of standing tall and free. Rompers with tons of layers rarely are slimming on us petite ladies, so simple is best here.
6. Accessorize & Wear Heels //
Accessorizing is always a ton of fun with rompers! From cute clutches, to bracelets, to earrings…accessorizing when wearing a romper is a must. While it’s great to choose a few different items to accessorize with, it’s always best to stay simple. Simplicity is definitely a constant theme for short, petite ladies, as it helps us to not look so cluttered. For this romper, I chose to wear gold dangly earrings, a bracelet, and a black wallet. When it comes to shoe choice, you can really rock whatever you’d like. For more of a daytime look, I typically wear dressy sandals, but for a nighttime look, I will always wear heels. Wearing heels will always make you look taller, so make sure you take advantage of them, ladies!
