Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great weekend full of fun and relaxation, just how every weekend should be. One of the things I love the most about the summertime is the different options you have for throwing parties and simple get-togethers. Michael and I love hosting our friends over for the weekend, or even just for the day. The past three weekends, we’ve had quite a few family and friends over. We’ve had an absolute blast!
It’s my dream to have a mid-century modern decorated home. While we do have quite sometime before we reach that dream, I think it’s important to start working towards that dream in the small things. This is why I chose a mid-century modern bar cart when we were on the lookout for one. Today, I’m so happy to be partnering with Wayfair to share with you my bar cart and its summertime touch decor.
The bar cart I ended up choosing from Wayfair was this gorgeous Sagebrook Home bar cart. One of the reasons why I love mid-century modern decor is because it combines earthy elements with industrial modern elements. I really love this muted gold color, especially when paired with this wood. It suits my taste perfectly.
I love the ocean and the beach and wish I could spend most of my summer days there. With having such a huge heart for the coast, I decided that the perfect summertime touch for my cart would be beach-inspired decor.
When you’re searching for mid-century modern decor on Pinterest, you’ll come across many different kinds of sea urchin decorations. They’re just one of those timeless decor pieces for the style. Luckily for me, they fit in with my beach touch!
Something that’s been all the rave over the past few summers (and for bloggers in general) are different kinds of pineapple decor. This pineapple piece that I found is also storage. It’s the perfect size for storing wine stoppers and charms. I love items that are multifunctional -super intentional!
These little white vases that I also got from Wayfair are perfect for holding stirrers or straws, or for simple decorative touch. Their design was something I was drawn to the first thing I saw them. Another fun added touch is this candle that is actually bee-hive inspired, but the frosted glass reminded me of sea glass, so I thought it was fitting to include.
I’m a huge fan of prints, which is why you see the gorgeous oceanscape and pineapple prints added to my bar cart area. I’m one for witty quotes and I totally couldn’t pass up this one from Hemingway.
One of the most convenient things about having a bar cart on hand is that the large majority of them are portable. We’re able to easily transport the bar cart out to the porch for outside festivities and from room-to-room if we really needed to. The accessibility and versatility of this bar cart make hosting a breeze!
4 SIMPLE TIPS FOR STYLING A BAR CART:
1. LESS IS MORE // This will always ring true for everything, especially for your bar cart. Clutter is no good. If a bar cart is too busy, it lacks its welcoming aspect. Choose some simple decorations, necessities, and your spirits, and let their simplicity do all of the talking. When a bar cart is welcoming, it has a charm and friendliness to it. Always remember that!
For me, I prefer to keep the majority of my tools in the kitchen area. So, our bar cart is more for storage of our spirits, as well as an overall decorative piece.
2. INFUSE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE // Personal style is a must when you’re creating something as personal as a bar cart. Consider your favorite colors and style of decor, and create those things. Mid-century modern with a beach flare for the summertime was my focus for our bar cart during this season. But, even outside of the summer, the bar cart maintains a very mid-century modern feel.
3. ADD WIT & WHIMSY // Just how I added the Hemingway quote to my bar cart, consider other wit and whimsy like it. There are so many funny alcohol quotes out there that are witty – there’s one for everyone. Whether it’s a quote or a photo, make sure that you add some wit and whimsy to bar cart. It makes everything more conversational and inviting!
4. HAVE IT STOCKED // You must keep your bar cart stocked with your favorite spirits at all times. Be sure to include a variety of alcohol: rum, vodka, gin, and whiskey are some must-haves. Don’t forget about Triple Sec and others like it. Variety is key here. Stock up as needed, but definitely before any huge get together.
