Michael and I have been in our rental home for two months now, which is crazy to think about. I must say, I’m extremely proud of how quickly we unpacked all of our things. Right after we moved, life got pretty crazy for us both. For Michael, he had the amazing opportunity to be promoted after a month of being at his new job, which we’re both super grateful and excited about. Then, he had a ton of work to do with their Easter weekend prep, which takes weeks on weeks to prep for! For me, I was all over the place with baby showers, wedding showers, lots of driving, and more. Needless to say, we haven’t had too much free time on our hands.
While we did unpack quite quickly, the decorating aspect is taking a bit longer for us. We’re still in the process of decorating to our taste, as we’re being choosey with what pieces we add into our home. I don’t know about Michael, but I love taking the time to dream and decorate our place!
The main room I have been focusing on lately is our living room. It’s the coziest room in the entire home, which is perfect since we want our guests to feel welcomed the second they step into our place. The living room has a fireplace, skylight, and gorgeous a bay window. I love the natural light we get in it! While we’re still on the hunt for the perfect couch and other furniture items for us, I’ve been spending time hanging up the wall art we have, as well as breaking out some other fun decor pieces.
Throughout this decorating process, I have learned that no matter what your living room size or style is, there are some must-have decor items that every living room needs.

MUST-HAVE LIVING ROOM DECOR:
Shelves // Shelving is a huge must for every living room for a number of different reasons. Shelving helps to add character to a room, while it’s actually more of a practical decor piece. Having different shelves for different purposes helps bring your living room to life. I’m a huge fan of floating shelves, which I plan on getting for a few of our rooms soon. They’re great for holding some smaller books and accent pieces. Just recently, I won this beautiful triangle shelving piece from a giveaway that I entered. It’s handcrafted and is full of character. Not only is it beautiful on its own, but it’s even more eye-catching when you add little accent pieces to it, like souvenirs from your travels.
Foil-Pressed Prints // My favorite decorative style is mid-century modern, as I love that it captures both raw and clean elements. Plus, it’s the best mixture of both Michael and I’s ideal style for decor. I love more of a raw and warm feel, where he enjoys everything modern. One of my favorite aspects of mid-century modern decor is their popular accent color – gold. Gold not only complements the wooden pieces that we both love, but it also helps to give the room a consistent energy.
I have raved about them before and I’ll keep on raving about them some more… I will always love Minted for my wall art and stationary needs. They never disappoint – they always deliver above and beyond my expectations. From the numerous designs and services they offer, all the way to how well they package their items, I am always left constantly impressed. I shared about some of their gorgeous wall art prints that I used in my office a couple weeks back, and so many of you were thrilled to hear that they offered prints and art pieces! Today, I want to share some of their stunning foil-pressed prints that I chose to add to one of my living room walls.

I decided to choose their Botanical T Foil-Stamped art print as one of the foil-pressed pieces for our living room. I’m typically not one that’s big on monograms, but the second I saw the botanical touch to this piece, I knew it belonged in our living room.
The second foil-pressed piece I knew I needed to have was this Pennsylvania Map. Michael and I met in Pennsylvania during our college years and it’s also where we currently live, and picture ourselves living for a good while. While we’re both from different states, Pennsylvania holds a special place in our hearts.

Simple Pieces For The Coffee Table // I love changing out our coffee table decor as the seasons change. For me, some coffee table must-haves are candles, a fun remote holder, candy dish, magazines, and other inviting pieces. Simple pieces like these are musts, because they’re simple. If you have too much clutter on your coffee table, it’s not really a practical piece anymore.
Books // While I’m not the biggest book reader in the world, I will admit that there’s something about books that are comforting. I love looking through landscape books and devotionals when I’m lounging in my living room. Plus, they’re great for guests to look through when visiting.
Personal Pieces // Some of the most important decor items every living room should have are personal pieces. From keepsake boxes to pictures of family, your personal decor items are what make your living room even more inviting. This is why I chose the Pennsylvania Map and Botanical Monogram foil-pressed art from Minted. Both are a part of Michael and I’s story. And yes, that is a photo of Michael as a baby! Too cute, right?
