For the past couple weeks I have been unable to post regularly, because of the holiday season. Now the holiday season is coming to a close and everything is starting to calm down, so here I am again! I promise I’ll be back on my normal schedule soon. So, let me tell you about my Christmastime (and winter break) so far!
Michael and I spent our first week of winter break up in Rochester, New York. During our time in Rochester, we booked our venue! It has gorgeous grounds and the inside is absolutely lovely. We definitely picked the perfect place for us and look forward to our evening wedding that we’ll be having this coming June. I also made how I was going to ask my maid(s) of honor and bridesmaids to be my ladies (I’ll post a tutorial eventually). Michael’s parents surprised us with our very first ornament together – with an engraving of our names and our engagement date, with little love birds.
We spent Christmas in Rochester last year, so this year we were able to spend it with my family. We got in a few days before Christmas and right when I walked in the door I gave my sisters a special box. They both opened it and said “yes” to being my maids of honor! My sister Corryn is an amateur photographer, planning on majoring in photography when she goes to college next fall, so we’ve been working on some engagement photos with her.
Christmas Eve when went over my great grandmother’s house and had a good meal and participated in a gift swap. It was nice to see everyone since I hadn’t gotten to last year and we only see each other that time of year normally. Christmas morning we spent at my mother’s house and a had a yummy brunch and got to spend time with my family. One of the (engagement) gifts that Michael and I received were two monogram mugs – we’re both very eager to sip our coffee from them!
Later on for Christmas dinner, we went to my uncle’s house to see my family on that side. We watch A Christmas Story and ate way too many goodies! Christmas also happens to be my father’s birthday, so that was a bit exciting, as well. I finally got my fix of ice cream cake and my aunt made two huge trays full of chocolate-covered every-things!
Well, there you have it – that was the bulk of my Christmastime, so far. We still have two more weeks of break left and I’m hoping they go by nice and slow.
So, tell me what you did for Christmas! What did you do to prepare for Christmas? What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?
