Over my Spring Break, I had my bridal shower back where Michael is from. Michael’s mom hosted it at their house and planned the whole thing. When she originally was planning it, she wanted to keep the details a surprises, but when she found out we’d be there all week before, she had to let me in on the details! She threw me a coffee-themed bridal shower and can you guess where she got the idea from?
Yep! My blog. She’s lovely and sweet like that.
I must admit, the week of the shower I was completely nervous. I knew there were going to be people there that I hadn’t met before then and for some reason I let myself get jumbled up about it.
But thanks be to God – the day of I wasn’t one bit anxious.
When the guests first arrived they had to fill out a card of advice for Michael and I. We loved reading over the advice cards and truly cherish every word that was written on them. There is just something special about learning from those who have gone before you.
After the ladies filled out their advice, they had to grab a clothespin for one of the games we played. For the clothespin game, the rules are that you can’t say certain words or else someone can snag your clothespin. For example, the words we used to play were: the bride, groom, wedding, shower, and coffee. Whoever has the most clothespins in the end, wins a prize!

Now when I said this bridal shower was coffee-themed, I sure meant it. Their living room was transformed from a living room into a quaint little coffee shop. Circular tables, antique napkins, yummy cookies and candles were all obvious necessities. The atmosphere was ever so perfect!
All of the heart and thought put into making this shower happened, just makes me feel so loved.
Michael’s mom spent all of the Superbowl making sharpie mugs for everyone who was coming – that was a little over 30 people! Each mug that was made had their own special flare and coffee saying on them. She spent so much time and energy into making this shower happen and I am so grateful for it all. I’m glad she had fun doing it!
The coffee cart hire Sydney had all kinds of coffee: regular, hazelnut, french vanilla, and decaf. There was an assortment of teas and creamers, along with other sweet things to add to your coffee like Starbucks flavor shots. Yum! I definitely had more than one cup of coffee that afternoon and I am sure some of the guests did, too!
The coffee bar was adorable, but when do I ever not find a coffee bar adorable? Oh, that’s right – never!
For those who weren’t coffee or hot tea drinkers, there were also the options of lemonade with fresh lemons or iced tea with mint. The iced tea was delicious and had the exact amount of mint flavor to make you go up for refills.
Has anyone ever had iced tea with mint? It was my first time ever having it and I fell in love with it. If you’ve never had it, I highly recommend you make some. You won’t regret it.
For lunch, there was a ton of hearty sandwich options and salad and other food that paired well with coffee.
Naturally, my favorite food table had to be the sweets table. We had carrot cake, strawberry cheesecake cupcakes and my personal favorite, triple chocolate cake. I absolutely adored the cupcakes and how they were in the shape of a wedding dress.
Even though I’m trying to get in shape for the wedding, I had two slices of the triple chocolate cake…
Oops!
I enjoyed my time and conversations that I had with those who came. I was so grateful to have everyone there who came – I really felt special and loved. It is so encouraging to have so many people who believe in the love that Michael and I have and it means the absolute world to both of us.
What did you do for your bridal shower? Did it have a certain theme? I’d love to hear about it!
