Oh my goodness, friends! We’re almost half way through sweet 2016 and for real, it just blows my mind. I feel like it was January just yesterday. I’m pretty sure we can all agree that this year seems to be flying by faster than usual. It really makes you appreciate the now all the more.
Coffee With Summer’s 2nd blogiversary is coming up later on this summer, but I just want to take right now to share my heart about why I blog and what my focus is for my blog. When I first began Coffee With Summer in the summer of 2014, I didn’t have any set plan for my blog. I just figured it’d be a great way to write about whatever I wanted to and to better deepen my experience with community online. Now here I am almost two years later! I have grown so much more than I ever thought I would when it comes to blogging and social media, and I honestly couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds for this growing career of mine.
Before I get into sharing my heart for my blog, I really want to address something that’s important to me. When I first began this blog, I shared mainly about my faith – writing devotionals and sharing encouragement in that way. A few of you have pointed out that I don’t share much about my faith anymore and I want you to know that yes, I am still a follower of Jesus even though I don’t blog about Him or my faith directly or that often. I think that bloggers who write about faith all of the time are awesome. We need bloggers like that! But if a Christian who blogs (like me) doesn’t share about their faith constantly, you shouldn’t think less of them or try to make them feel guilty about it. That’s the short version of what I have to say. Let’s all respect and love each other!
Coffee With Summer is a community for those who want to be encouraged by truth, challenged by potential, and emboldened to have real conversations on how to grow authentically and intentionally.
This is the focus and mission of Coffee With Summer. I want my blog to be a place where anyone and everyone can learn and grow together. Authenticity and being relational are two of my greatest passions, and they will always go together. I aim to be both authentic and relational in all of my writings here on my blog and out on social media. I want all of my writing to have purpose and a clear message that can help someone in some way. It’s my goal to publish in-depth posts that I’m proud of and not “fluff” content. I believe in challenging yourself so that you can grow and flourish into all that you envision for yourself.
One of my favorite topics to write about is blogging and social media. I just love the community and connections you can form throughout both, and I love learning new ways and strategies on how to grow in both areas. This is why is why I share blogging and social media tips. According to the end of 2015 Reader Survey and my stats, my blogging and social media posts are some of your most favorite posts. This makes me so happy, because I’m always wanting to share more and more in this area.
Aside from blogging and social media, I share about beauty, style, marriage, updates, and anything about life! You’ll find that there’s a little bit of everything here.
If you haven’t noticed yet, I share a good amount of sponsored content. Please, understand that when I have a sponsored post that it’s truly because I love and believe in the brand and/or product that I’m sharing about. I will never apply for or accept a sponsored campaign if it doesn’t fit in with my lifestyle. I will never apply for or accept a sponsored campaign just for the money. With this being said, I don’t really understand why people (both bloggers and non-bloggers, alike) criticize bloggers who work with brands on sponsored content. This is our dream and we’re going to chase after it! There’s no need for you bash bloggers who share genuinely about products they love whatever the reason – whether you just don’t like it or you’re wishing you got those sponsored posts, etc. And no, sponsored posts are not just an advertisement…we’re sharing about how we genuinely use those products in our everyday life. If you think poorly about bloggers chasing their dreams and sharing sponsored content, then you either need to reevaluate your heart or just block it out completely.
Okay! I think I have covered everything I wanted to for now. You know what that means? It’s survey time! Please, remember that this survey is to be helpful to me to better understand my readers. It’s not a place to bash or write hate, it’s a place to give me actionable feedback. I appreciate all of the feedback I receive!
