I am sure I’m not the only one who’s looking forward to the summertime, right? It’ll be here before we know it, and I am completely rejoicing in knowing that! Summertime is everyone’s favorite time of the year, as it’s jam packed with adventures full of good tunes and great memories. There’s just something about all things summertime that never cease to bring the fun times to life.
I know this could sound crazy to some, but while I love summertime for the adventures with my friends, I also enjoy it as I get to spend more time with my nanny kids (Or should I say preteens now? It’s crazy how time flies!) While the kids and I love taking trips to theme parks and hanging out at the house, one of our favorite things to do in the summertime is take a day trip to the pool.
Days trips to the pool require a ton of necessities, especially when you’re taking kids along with you. You’ve got to make sure you have a bag packed full of snacks and sunscreen, as well as goggles and pool accessories! On top of the kids having their own pool day bags, I need to make sure that my pool day bag is packed properly to survive the excitement of the day.
My go-to drink for a pool day is Coca-Cola™, as it’s refreshing and has just enough caffeine to keep me on my toes all day. As I mentioned earlier, summertime is all about good tunes, which is why I have been loving Coca-Cola’s new “Share a Coke and a Song” campaign!
What goes in my pool day bag can vary depending on the day, but there are a few essentials that I always have to have on hand.
MY POOL DAY BAG ESSENTIALS:
- Towels // I always have one for me and extras incase the kids need another
- Sunglasses // I’m always wearing a pair and have a spare in my bag
- Goggles/Snorkel // Need extra incase we take the kids’ friends along with us
- iPad // To play our favorite music from and take slow-mo videos of dives and belly flops
- I have the Shazam App downloaded, so that I can get my Coca-Cola Share a Song. The app is available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android and other devices.
- Portable speaker // To blast our tunes
- Coca-Cola // To stay hype and energetic
- Coca-Cola Zero™ & Diet Coke® mini cans // To pass around to other nannies & moms
- Sunscreen // You can never protect your skin too much
- Coverup/light sweater // To chill in when it gets a bit chilly
- Makeup // I’m a makeup girl, so I always keep it with me to touch up
Music has always been a huge part of my life, so I appreciate anything that brings me closer to it and the memories it can help create. What’s awesome is that my nanny kids love music just as much as I do, so we always have upbeat tunes playing in the car on our way to the pool. I also make sure that I carry my portable speaker with us, so that I can play their favorite music on my iPad while we’re at the pool.
As I put together my pool day bag for this summer, I couldn’t help but think about all of the great memories the kids and I have made the past few summers. Thinking back on all of the slow-mo belly flops videos and dive contests while jamming out to music makes me even more excited than I already am for this summertime to get into session.
Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke and a Song” bottles and cans make it easy to burst out into song when you’re with others. Just reading the lyrics printed on each bottle makes you want to dance and savor every moment like never before! I had to grab the bottle with the lyrics, “we are family” on it, as I realized that I have grown to be a part of my nanny kids’ family over the years. It got me all teary-eyed for a moment – the good tears, of course! This is going to be the best summer ever.
Sometimes it’s hard to remember all of my essentials, like Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke and a Song” 20oz bottles, but I’m so thankful to have a CVS on the way to the pool! Talk about a lifesaver!
