Remember over the past month I have been hinting at a huge announcement? Well this is it, friends! Michael and I bought a house! We are homeowners! It feels surreal to finally be able to say that and to announce it here on the blog.
It killed me to not be able to share about this exciting step in life with you all as it was happening. We just wanted to keep it all quiet while we went through the process, just in case things fell through. Here’s all about our house-buying journey!
A couple months back, I shared that we wanted to start the beginning stages of house hunting, but in all reality, we thought we’d have to end up renting a house for another 6 months or so. Even though we thought this, we were stilling looking at houses online.
Two months ago, my mother-in-law sent Michael and I a listing to look at. Michael got to view it online first and then he sent it over to me, saying “I really like this one, I think you will too.” I opened it up and the first photo that I saw of it, I knew I was going to like it. Well, I loved it from the photos online.
After talking it through, we decided that we wanted to go see the house as soon as possible. Thankfully, Michael already had connections with a realtor, so we set up a time to go see the house. We got to see the house on Friday, September 29th, just two days after looking at it online, and in person, we fell in love with it even more. So, we decided to take our next step, which was getting pre-approved. Yes, I know – this is usually someone’s first step, but again, we really didn’t think we were going to be buying just yet.
Thanks to some awesome connections from our realtor, we got pre-approved overnight. Saturday morning we received the news that we were pre-approved and Saturday night, we put in an offer (contingent on the inspections). Sunday, they accepted our offer. A few days later, we officially got in contract. The following week, we had the inspections start and there were no dire, pressing issues, so we decided to continue pursuing the house.
We qualified for a fast-track close on the house, which was simply a blessing. The close date was pushed later than what we originally thought, but it was a blessing because we’ve had so much going on. We were able to get into the house 2 weeks ago to start painting, which was awesome that we could figure out that agreement.
After lots of paperwork, stress (mostly the good kind), and the close date being pushed a tiny bit longer than we expected, we are finally closing on our house tomorrow. It’s crazy to me that tomorrow is finally the big day – exactly 2 months after stepped foot into this house for the first time.
God has been so, so good to us. We were blessed with such a smooth process. It’s still so crazy to us that it all happened this fast. But hey, when God wants you somewhere, he’ll make it happen.
We have already started on some projects for the house, including an awesome tutorial that’ll be sharing about on the blog next month. I look forward to sharing more lifestyle content focused on our house in the future. This will include many DIY projects, decor tips, and tons more. We are so excited to make this house our home!

Needless to say, life is going to get even busier than it has been over next couple months. Don’t worry, I’ll still be creating new content, but I will definitely be unplugging even more than I have been. I’m aiming to unplug after 6:00 PM EST on weekdays and almost completely on the weekends. I’m huge about work-life balance to begin with, but now I’m really going to need to focus on putting some love into our new home!
Thank you for your constant love and support. I can’t express how much it means to have you all cheering me on, not only for blogging, but life, as well. Thank you! LOVE you all!!
