Hey there, CWS fam! It’s time for another #bumpdate today. 🙂 I always look forward to writing and sharing these with you all but this one totally snuck up on me! I try to write these every 4 weeks and this past month simply flew by.
During my first trimester recap and my 18 week bumpdate, I had laid everything out week by week, especially when it came to sharing my symptoms. Now that I’ve been out of the first trimester and the morning sickness stage, I figured I’d shift gears and just talk through everything, rather than go week by week. 🙂
The photo above was taken at 19 weeks with Baby T! That was the first week I really felt like I looked pregnant… well, only in form-fitting tops, anyway.
SYMPTOMS WEEKS 19 – 22:
My morning sickness has been completely gone now other than feeling nautious in the car as a passenger sometimes. I still keep my trusty sea-bands on-hand in my bag, because they really do help keep nausea at bay! For the most part, I’m feeling much more energetic these days and I haven’t felt dizzy at all. The awful headaches that I was getting before have subsided, as well. Thank goodness. They were completely debilitating. As for round ligament pains, I haven’t felt many over the past month. I’m sure they’ll start up more as my belly continues to grow.
I’m still experiencing lower backaches and sciatica, as I’m sure I’ll continue to. I have a petite frame so it’ll be carrying a lot throughout this pregnancy. I’m beyond thankful that Michael gives me a back massage each night. He’s been so amazing!
My emotions can be a bit crazy sometimes. Well, I’ve definitely been experiencing the crying over the silliest things thing, haha. I’m not typically a crier so it’s weird for me. Overall, I have really been on the up and up and have been feeling like my regular self most days. 🙂
ANATOMY SCAN:
We had Baby T’s anatomy scan towards the end of my 19th week of pregnancy. It was something we were looking forward to ever since the positive pregnancy test. The anatomy scan, from what I’ve gathered, is what most people associate with just finding out the gender. While that is something you have the option to find out during it, the anatomy scan is SO much more than that! You get to see the baby up close and personal. 🙂
Our appointment was set for an hour because the tech has a list of photos/videos they need to capture throughout the scan. Trust me, we didn’t complain! That meant we got to see our little one for a long while. On the morning of our scan, I was feeling a bit nervous but still had overwhelming peace. I was mostly nervous that they wouldn’t get to see everything they needed to… but they did! Thank God! I drank a tall frappuccino on the way over so that I had enough caffeine to make our little one perfectly active. 😉
By now you know that Baby T is a GIRL! You can CLICK HERE to find out all about how we found out and then had it confirmed at the anatomy scan.
Our sweet girl waved at us during the scan and she also had the hiccups at one point – way too cute! My favorite part of the scan was getting to see my baby girl’s heart and all 4 chambers. It was beyond incredible. God is such an artist.
Our girl is healthy and everything is measuring right on track. We are SO grateful.
Here’s the baby bump at 20 weeks! I had to have fun with this bump photo! Baby T half baked! 😉 And you bet I’ve been living in sweatpants and sports bras when I’m at home.
CRAVINGS/AVERSIONS: I haven’t had a hankering for anything majorly specific this pregnancy. It definitely all goes through stages. Lately, I just want sweets, especially chocolate. I’m doing my best to balance my want for sweets and healthy food. I really don’t want to gain any more weight than I’m supposed to, especially because I have a small frame.
WEIGHT GAIN: As I mentioned in my last bumpdate, it can be hard to get an accurate weight reading because my body is going through so much if ya know what I mean! In total, I’ve gained about 8-9 lbs so far. Being completely transparent here, it’s scary seeing my weight go up, but I’m doing my best to be gaining how I should so Baby T continues to grow right on track.
BODY CHANGES: The baby bump is growing and growing. It’s so funny because I don’t feel like I see it growing that much until I look at progress photos. I have found it hard to take accurate bump photos because phone selfies make my bump look smaller than it is and DSLR photos make it look way bigger, haha.
A little TMI here but hey, that’s pregnancy for ya! At the end of week 21, my nipples started leaking. It was the funniest thing to me because the day before, I was talking with my sister on the phone and told her how recently, I’ll feel a quick, sharp sensation in my nipples. She then said, “well, don’t be surprised if you start leaking soon then!” Then literally the next day, they did. LOL! I wasn’t expecting it but I felt a wetness and looked down and my t-shirt had spots, haha.
It is perfectly normal to be leaking so early on, even as a first-time mom. In fact, they say it’s a good sign which is great because I plan on breastfeeding/pumping Baby T.
HAVE YOU FELT ANY MOVEMENT? YES! YES! YES! To summarize: I started feeling flutters at 15 weeks and then more movements at 17 weeks. My last bumpdate I shared that I didn’t think I felt pronounced kicks yet and I’m standing firm there. BUT! My little girl decided to start kicking strong at 19 weeks and 2 days! I knew that I knew that I knew they were kicks. It was so special! Michael was with me the night I first felt them and of course, I cried. Michael felt her kick from the outside ever-so-slightly at 19 weeks and 4 days.
Ever since 20 weeks, baby girl has been kicking so crazy strong that we can see her from the outside. It is SO magical and is definitely my favorite thing so far about pregnancy. She’s quite active throughout the day, especially after each meal but she really loves being a night owl like her mama. I’m fine with that for now but I hope she’ll sleep through the night once she’s here, haha. 🙂
HAVE YOU GOTTEN ANY MATERNITY CLOTHES YET? Yes! Finally. At 21 weeks, I had my first breakdown over my body and how nothing was fitting me anymore. Being petite is hard enough already but being petite and pregnant… y’all. It messes with you. I’ll share more on that at another time. But yes, I finally put in an order online last weekend for some maternity jeans, a pair of maternity leggings, a bra, and some tops from Motherhood Maternity.
One pair of maternity jeans fit almost perfect and they were a petite option. I was so happy that I cried, haha. The other pair fit but the ankle area was too large and the leggings were extremely big even though they were the smallest size. I’m returning those two items and will grab another pair of jeans that fit in a different wash. My new bra fit perfect – holla! And the two tops were quite big on me but I kept them because I know my bump will grow into them. I’ll share more soon!
And that’s a wrap, for now, friends! I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
