The seasons that we go through in our life are temporary times that shape us permanently. We all experience seasons of joy, pain and even the indescribable.
Right now, I am in an indescribable season of life. One day I am beaming and extremely positive, and then the next I am overwhelmed and completely down. My thoughts and moods come in waves of disgust or winds of hope; one extreme or the other. I have been feeling like I am going insane and have been so down-hearted about it all.
But, just the other day I came to the realization that I am not the only one going through this kind of season. There is nothing wrong with me and there is nothing wrong with you. We all go through times like these.
Regardless of how pleased we are or how disheartened we are, we must turn our eyes off of ourselves and our situations, and fix them on the Lord.
God is always working in us, even when we don’t recognize it. Yes, that even means He is working in you on your bad days. God is good like that.
I always love reflecting back on the times in my life that have been the most difficult for me and noticing the subtle faithfulness of the Lord. When I battled depression and self-harm for several years, I learned to be strong and to rely on the Lord with all that I am. During the times of my life where I felt like I was in a spiritual desert, God was carefully molding me and stretching me in more ways than I ever thought possible during those times.
So, faint not when these trying times come your way. Let your heart hope and your sights be set on the positives. Remember that these times will turn out for good in the end and the growth you’ll experience will be exponential.
The Lord is forever faithful. The Lord is forever good. He is steadfast.
Don’t let your heart grow cold to those truths; let your heart be malleable, not stone. Be open to His leading and look for His heart – He is waiting.
Allow your whole being to bloom into the heart and character that He has planned for you to have.
A Time For Everything // Ecclesiastes 3
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
