Hey friends! I can’t even find the words to express how excited I am to share all about Topgolf with you today! Michael and I first became obsessed with Topgolf over the summer on our Nashville trip. The second we found out that they were opening a location up in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, we were freaking out! We were hoping there would be a location near us soon. Well, that came true this October. Topgolf in Mount Laurel opened its doors in early October and has been a hit ever since.
Last week, Michael and I had the opportunity to spend the evening at Topgolf in Mount Laurel and we had an absolute blast. Before I get into all of the details of our time there, let me give you a little background on Topgolf.
Topgolf is an awesome entertainment venue that features a high-tech driving range, great food and drinks, and a whole lot of fun! It’s the perfect spot for a date night or for a meet-up with friends.
Topgolf in Mount Laurel has over 100+ climate-controlled bays, full-service restaurant and bars, private event spaces and meeting rooms, and a rooftop terrace with fire pit. Oh! There’s also free WiFi and over 200 HDTVs throughout the venue.
– HOW TOPGOLF WORKS –
When you first arrive at Topgolf, you’ll receive a Topgolf card, which basically serves as your identification card each time you visit. Your Topgolf card keeps track of everything from how many times you visit, how many games you play, and is what you’ll use to sign-in once you get to your assigned bay.
Topgolf has three different levels to it which really helps to elevate the entire experience, whichever level you’re on. We were on the second level during our first visit to the Mount Laurel location. Every bay includes a sitting area (outdoor couch or high-top seating) for food and drinks, a TV, a monitor to follow game statistics, and of course, a hitting area.
There will always be a Topgolf employee that’ll help you get all settled into your bay, which makes everything a breeze for you. There are 8 games that you can play and they range from beginner to advanced. My personal favorite games are Topgolf and Top Pressure. There is something for everyone at Topgolf and that’s one of the really special perks of this entertainment hotspot. It’s inclusive!
When it’s your turn to hit, all you have to do is wave your club of choice in front of the sensor of the ball dispenser shown above in the photo. The ball dispenser contains RFID readers that can sense when you wave a club over the sensor. The golf balls are also equipped with RFID chips that tell the system that it’s you currently playing and it will track where in the field it lands.
The field has over 500 RFID readers that help to form different target areas. Each target is a circular net with different sections to it. Once your ball lands in the target the RFID reader will scan the RFID chip in your ball, and then the information is passed back to the Topgolf system. The closer your ball gets to the center of the target, the more points you earn. Of course, the farther your ball hits into the field and lands into a target, the more points you’ll receive.
There are multiple colored targets in the field and every game will have a different goal of where you should aim to hit your ball into.
Now that you’ve gotten some background on what Topgolf is all about, let me share more about my time at the Mount Laurel, NJ location. 🙂
Before we started our first game, we put in an order for the Grilled “Backyard” Wings, which are dry-rub and 24-hour citrus-brined grilled chicken wings with zesty garlic vinaigrette drizzle. They were absolutely amazing and as always, the fresh carrots and celery with ranch were the perfect accompaniment.
For drinks, Michael ordered the Patrón Blackberry Paloma and I had an Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Hard Cider. Okay, let’s be real – I had some of Michael’s drink, too. It was amazing! I’m ordering it for myself when we go back soon.
Like I mentioned earlier, Topgolf has climate-controlled bays. Yes, this is for real and it’s genius! Topgolf is a year-long entertainment center even during the winter. In each bay, there are multiple heaters that keep you warm and toasty. Michael ended up playing in just his t-shirt and it was perfect. I was just fine in my chenille sweater and honestly, I could’ve worn something lighter and have been great, too! So, don’t let the cold or snow hold you back from making a trip to Topgolf soon.
For dinner, we were both in the mood for flatbreads. I have gotten their Buffalo Chicken Flatbread before and it’s by far the best one I’ve ever had, so naturally, I had to get it this visit! I love that it comes with carrots and celery pieces on top of it – so refreshing. Michael got the Pepperoni Flatbread. Fun fact about Michael: he’s allergic to cheese. Yes, just cheese. He’s not lactose intolerant, haha – just cheese. (I know, it’s sad) He ordered his flatbread without cheese and it came out perfect!
One thing that really stood out to me about Topgolf in Mount Laurel was the amazing staff they have. Everyone was incredibly helpful, prompt, and welcoming. In an entertainment venue like this, the staff is such a key part of making the entire experience, and I was so impressed by everyone I met during our visit.
We have visited Topgolf during the daytime and now the evening. Each time has been just as incredible and memorable. I personally really love the vibe of Topgolf at night. It’s really such a fun hang out spot. You can’t go wrong!
If you live in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or any of the other surrounding areas, you’ve got to put Topgolf in Mount Laurel, NJ at the top of your list to visit ASAP! You won’t regret it. I promise! In fact, you’ll find yourself planning your next trip there while you’re still playing.
If you’re someone who’s not the golfing type (like myself), remember that this venue is for everyone and all ages! I’m definitely no pro but I always have a blast. It’s all about fun and entertainment here at Topgolf. So, if you’re one who likes to have a good time, Topgolf is the spot for you.
