Hey there, darlings! Today is Michael and I’s second wedding anniversary, which is so crazy to say, as our big day feels just like yesterday. June 26th, 2015 was the best day of my life. Getting to marry my God-fearing and loving best friend was an answer to prayer for me. God has blessed me a thousand times over with Michael. It’s such an honor to me to be his wife.
I didn’t want to share a post today about what I’ve learned in marriage so far, because of a couple different reasons. 1. I have learned so, so much and it wouldn’t all fit into a blog post. 2. I don’t want to come off as a marriage pro, because I’m totally not at all!
Today, I’ll be sharing some of my most favorite snapshots from our wedding day. I’ll be sharing some special fun facts and moments that really meant a lot to me leading up to our wedding, as well as on our big day. There are so many new faces around here in the Coffee With Summer community, and it’s important to me that I share my life with you. Being able to connect over personal life posts is one of my most favorite things about blogging.
My wedding dress one of the most special things about my wedding day. My Auntie Joyce made it for me. It was inspired by a designer dress that I had loved for years. It was such a blessing to me for her to create my most favorite dress in the world. I remember the moment she texted me saying she wanted to make it for me. Let’s just say I had all the emotions!
I felt the most beautiful on my wedding day. I felt like a dainty little wildflower that was so excited to bloom and grow. Ever since Michael and I started dating, we always loved the term “growing in love”.
And that we are. We are growing in love forever.
These ladies were so supportive leading up to the big day and on the big day. They helped me with anything that I needed – from grabbing my coffee to constantly praying for Michael and I. I was beyond blessed with these ladies! It’s so easy to say that I certainly had the most beautiful bridal party ever. Aren’t they stunning?
Oh! And fun fact, the two darlings on the right are my sisters!
This is my handsome groom, Michael. He’s a musician, but piano and keys are his thing. He’s a complete music genius! While my girls and I were getting our photos done, Michael was inside playing on the piano he’s had ever since growing up. Playing the piano helped calm is nerves and give him peace. I’m so grateful to God that he has this amazing outlet. I’m also thankful to our amazing photographer for capturing this moment for us.
This goes without saying, but Michael was the most handsome (and super hot) groom ever. 😉 haha!
This photo above with Michael and his groomsmen is one of my all-time favorites from our wedding day! Such a great group of supportive men! Thankful that my husband has awesome friends.
Michael and I are pretty traditional, but one thing we decided to make our own was to have a first look. We both struggle with anxiety to a point, so we figured that a first look would be the thing to do. Plus, they’re always some of my favorite pictures to see of other couples. We had our first look at the same place he proposed to me, on Lake Ontario. It was beyond romantic.
We are so glad we went with having a first look.

The photo above is of my father and I, and it’s one of my favorite imaged captured from the wedding ceremony. Such a sweet moment I know we’ll both never forget.
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. It had poured the entire week up to our wedding day, but I was praying and believing that God would give us a beautiful day. It was 72 degrees and simply perfect out all day long. Then again, the next day it poured. We were incredibly blessed.
The arbor we got married in front of was made by Michael’s father and his father’s friend. Isn’t it beautiful? We can’t wait to have it in our backyard when we buy a house one day. Such a special thing to have from our wedding!
Both our wedding ceremony and reception were held at the same place, which was such a huge convenience for us and all of our guests. The party house we got married at was stunning inside and out. We loved everything about our hall, from the dance floor to the amazing Maître D’. It was simply stunning!
The speeches were hands down one of the best parts of our reception. Michael’s best man (and cousin), Aaron, gave an incredibly moving speech that meant the world to Michael. My sisters, Bethany and Corryn, also gave two beautiful and emotional speeches.
We’re finally getting all of our wedding footage soon (long story, don’t ask haha), but we’re pretty much most excited to watch the speeches. We can’t wait to put the video together ourselves. Keep your eye out for it over the next couple months.
When I saw this wedding cake topper, I knew it was the one for us! It was so important to us to keep God as the central focus of our wedding day, as every good gift comes from Him. And for us, that meant keeping even the cake topper focused on the goodness of God!
Our first dance song was to “Turning Page”, by Sleeping at Last. Simply romantic!
My father and I danced to “Summer Breeze”, the song I was named after. Michael and his mom danced to Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young”, which was the first song she heard when holding Michael for the first time.
It’s been an incredible and stretching two years with my husband, and it’s been the most amazing thing. We’ve had many tough times already, but so many more times filled with joy and excitement. I still can’t believe that I have the honor to get to life with Michael! He is THE best. I love my man!! I am beyond excited for all the years we have in front of us.
