Hello everyone! It’s good to be back to my usual schedule for now, at least. Today, I’ll be sharing some photos from our marriage ceremony in our wedding day series.
Our ceremony started at 6:00 pm on June 26th, 2015. As all of our guests made their way to the ceremony area, I was inside the reception hall with all of my ladies. Even those few moments before I was about to walk down the aisle, it didn’t feel real! When the ceremony began and my ladies started to make their way down, my dad and I got to share a sweet moment in prayer together.
My bridesmaids were all so gorgeous and my flower girl was the absolute cutest ballerina! Yes, I had her wear a tutu and ballet shoes.
I never thought that I would get super emotional as I walked down the aisle, and gosh was I wrong. One moment I was smiling and the next I found myself trying so hard to not let the tears fall. I think I was even shaking because I was just so overwhelmed with joy and emotion.
I had walked down the aisle to Flightless Bird, American Mouth covered by The Vitamin String Quartet.
Michael and I chose to do traditional vows. Growing up I had always wanted to write my own wedding vows, because I can express myself best in that way. But for Michael, I knew it’d be a challenge because he’s not a writer. Personal vows are beautiful and wonderful, but so are the traditional ones. There is such a raw beauty to traditional marriage vows and I’m glad we chose to go with those for our ceremony.
We chose to do sand instead of the unity candle, because we both always wanted to do sand. It’s nice because we’re able to keep it and have it in our home.
Since Michael has very ticklish feet, we couldn’t do a foot washing in the ceremony. We did communion – our first meal together as husband and wife. It was one of the most intimate moments of the day and I am beyond glad we chose to do so.
THE KISS! Yes, it was as magical as everyone says it is. You can tell from my face below.
And here we are on this wonderful adventure called marriage! Loving every second with my sweet and caring husband.
