Since letting you all know that we received our wedding photos back from our dear photographer, Anna, you’ve all been expressing that you can’t wait to see them. All of our photos are absolutely gorgeous and we’re beyond happy with them! It took me hours to get through all of them and because I want to share our day as deep as I can with you all, I decided that doing a wedding day series would be the best way to do that.
I think it’s fitting to start with some photos from the morning of. We had a Friday evening wedding so we had the entire day to get ready and anticipate the ceremony and celebration.
Everyone told me that I wasn’t going to be able to sleep the night before our big day, but I slept really well, which came of great surprise to me. I did wake up early though. I was really grateful that I was able to get ready at a slow pace, because I felt I got to enjoy the process even more.
After waking up, we got started on styling my hair, which really just consisted of curling it and then pining the curls so that they’d last longer than usual. It was such a blessing to me to have my mother-in-law style my hair and my ladies’ hair for the day. It was a bonus perk that she has her own little shop in their house, so we didn’t have to travel to get ready.
I always knew that I wanted to have my hair curled and with babies breath intertwined into a half-up, half-down style. I wanted to look natural and elegant on my wedding day, and what’s a better way to do that than to keep things simple? After all, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
The morning was nothing short of delightful. I loved being able to spend the time I had with my bridesmaids eating breakfast, sipping coffee and getting ready together.
Before we knew it, it was time to get dressed in our dresses and do any last minute primping for our photos before heading out for the first look.
The moments capturing when I first got on my dream of a wedding dress…
I felt beyond beautiful in my dress. It was everything I ever wanted and I still cannot grasp how blessed I am that my Aunt Joyce could make it for me. All of the tiny details – garters, earrings and the baby’s breath – made me feel at home within myself. I felt lovely like a wildflower.
