I know many of you have been wanting to know my wedding details for quite some time now. Other than sharing my DIY on How I Asked My Bridesmaids and my Coffee-Themed Bridal Shower, I haven’t shared too much and there are a couple reasons for that. One, because I was still indecisive about some things (like decorations, etc.) and two, I don’t want to give the whole day away before it happens!
Now that we’re just 15 days out from our big day, I decided that I’d share a little more with you all than I have thus far. It’s been a wild ride having to plan a wedding 6 hours away from where we’re living, but after getting to Rochester early this week, I finally feel at ease.
Okay, now time for the fun stuff!
Our Venue //
Last summer, even though we weren’t engaged at the time, Michael and I looked around at some venues around the area he grew up. When we found the Plantation Party House and visited the grounds, we fell in love with the place. Right after Michael and I got engaged in November, we quickly booked a date there. When we visited in December and got to see the indoors, we were even more glad we booked with them! The best part about this venue is that we can have both the ceremony and reception there. It’s gorgeous!
Completely in love with the fountain! It adds such a romantic touch.
The view from where I’ll be walking to my husband-to-be from.
This darling area is where we’ll be tying the knot & of course, it’ll be spruced up a bit!
The Dress //
I got to pick up my dress last weekend and am absolutely in love with it! My dear aunt made it. I am so blessed by her kindness and love! The dress is perfect for me. I can’t wait until Michael gets to see me on our day.
Hair & Makeup //
I decided I’ll be doing my own makeup on my wedding day because of a few different reasons: I know what look I want, I love doing my makeup and because if I’m going to invest in it, I might as well buy my own makeup to keep for afterwards. About a month ago, I finally got my hands on Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette and All Nighter Setting Spray. I have been practicing all month long and it’s been so much fun.
Since my soon-to-be mother-in-law is a hairstylist, she’ll be doing my hair for the wedding. She’s phenomenal! I’m not biased, I swear.
Decorations //
Our colors are blush, grays and silver. I chose them because they’re elegant, classy and balletic (I’m a dancer). I am doing a ton of different DIY’s for our special day, but I am just now getting started on them. That sounds a bit crazy, right? Just starting my main decor pieces 2 weeks out from the wedding? Well, it seemed more logical for me. If I had done all my DIY’s before traveling up here, I would’ve had to transport everything up. This would’ve been a huge hassle because it would’ve taken multiple trips and there’d be the risk for things to break.
With all of that being said, I have been loving gathering up all of my materials for my projects and am excited to be starting them all. This is the fun part!
I plan on sharing some DIY posts in the future about my decor, so keep an eye out.
A Special Detail //
After all of my years of wanting to be traditional and wanting to have a photo of us holding hands on other sides of the wall praying, I have decided the opposite route – a first look. Michael and I have chosen to do a first look not because it’s trendy, but because it’ll be really special to have a moment before the ceremony. Just being with Michael calms me down and makes me feel at peace, but I’ll write more about that in the future.
Anyway! After Skpying with our sweet photographer, I had the idea of doing our first look on the lake where we got engaged. We’re super excited to be able to do that!
